Training
We know that staff may need a bit of a confidence boost when it
comes to integrating ICT into the classroom, so we provide a range
of support to make sure teachers feel competent in using technology
right across the curriculum.
- New Technology Institutes Accredited centres
that run a wide selection of courses, which include training for
Apple, Adobe and Avid software. Learners can choose the duration of
study, from one day to week-long courses, and there's the option of
onsite help and training in your school. To find out more, visit
the Jigsaw and NTI
Training page.
- Academy Class Academy Class covers all aspects
of digital media training, including print & design, web design
& development, 3D & CAD, web marketing, digital video, and
Apple & Adobe certification. Small class sizes of 6-8 people
mean training can be personalised to your needs.
- DVDs We sell a range of DVDs to guide you
through most applications, including QuarkXPress, Adobe After
Effects and Final Cut and more. You can learn at your own pace and
refer back to them whenever needed.
- Apple Regional Training Centres There are more
than 80 of these centres throughout the UK, hosting nine free
events per year to teach primary and secondary school teachers
everything they need to know about iLife.
- Apple Professional
Development Whether you're new to Apple or want to
fine-tune your knowledge of particular software or devices, APD
training can help. These workshop-style courses have been written
by British teachers for British teachers, so you can be confident
that what you'll learn will come in useful in the classroom.
Bespoke programmes are also available to suit your staff's
needs.
Finance
We're all about making life easy, and that includes keeping it
simple for you to pay for your purchases. We tailor payment methods
to your needs, accepting credit and debit cards as well as being
able to set you up with a credit account or providing you with
leasing options to spread out your payments.
- Credit Accounts If you are a school college or
university, we will automatically set up a 30-day credit account
for your institution when we receive an official purchase order.
This means we can send items to you without delay. See here for full terms and
conditions.
- Lease Hire Spread payments over two, three or
five years on software and hardware orders of more than £1000 (ex
VAT). With the option to use your paid balance towards upgrading
equipment, this is a great way of getting up-to-date kit within
your budget. Monthly payments are tax deductible and can be fixed
for the length of the lease.
Licensing
Licensing is the best way to provide students with access to a
variety of software, while keeping purchases affordable. Multiple
copies of the same software can be bought with just one serial
number, saving you time and making installation on machines
hassle-free. Plus, you'll only need one media pack, which means you
pay for the shipping of just one parcel and won't have to figure
out a way to dispose hundreds of software boxes! Licensing options
are available for:
- Adobe There are many different licensing
options with Adobe, from their own TLP and CLP licences to
organisations such as Eduserv and SSAT who negotiate higher levels
of discount on your behalf.
- Both the Transactional Licensing Program (no fixed-term
agreement) and Cumulative Licensing Program (which has a two-year
membership period) give you significant savings on Adobe's Creative
Suite 5.
- There's also the CS5.5 School Site License (250 and 500
installations) for schools offering technical education.
- Another option is licensing through Eduserv, who negotiate
affordable licence agreements for universities and colleges. With
the Eduserv Adobe CLP Agreement, educational institutions can
purchase Adobe software and get the highest level of discount,
regardless of how much they spend.
- You can also get CLP level 3 pricing if you are a member of the
Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT). As a charity, they
champion innovation and work with schools and local communities to
raise pupils achievement. 70% of their member schools said that
membership led to improvement in their school last year.
- Apple The Apple Volume Licensing Programme is
a cost-effective way to provide students with access to Apple's pro
apps (including Logic Studio and Aperture), and is available from
as few as 5 licences. There's also a School Site Licence for Logic
Studio and Aperture, which is available to schools whose students
are under the age of 19 and who need up to 500 seats. Apple have
also released Final Cut Pro, which is available from just 20
licences. And you can also get the iLife Maintenance scheme,
which covers you against any iLife updates for a three year
period.
- Quark Both the Classroom Licence (a minimum
order of 10 users, and licences are available from £35 per seat)
and the School Licence (a fixed price of £1750 for an unlimited
number of computers) are available to schools, while the Higher
Education Licence is available to FE and HE establishments that
need as few as two Quark licences.
- Autodesk We offer licensing on all of
Autodesk's software. Get in touch with us to find out more about
your options.
- Microsoft The new Enrollment for Education
Solutions programme simplifies licensing and lets you count the
number of full-time staff, rather than the number of PCs. There's
also the Open License for Academic, which is essentially a
pay-as-you-go service available from as few as five licences.
