Apple has unveiled a brand new
version of their desktop computer that's just for education
customers. The new iMac
for education is designed specifically with the computer lab in
mind, featuring the power needed to tackle everyday learning
activities without any of the extra gubbins you're unlikely to
need.
With a glossy 21.5" display, the screen is large enough for group work, but its slim design means it also leaves plenty of room on the desk for the included wired keyboard and mouse (as well as any extra storage you might need on top of the iMac's 250GB hard drive).
With 2GB RAM (upgradeable to 8GB), the latest 3.1GHz Intel Core i3 processor and AMD Radeon HD 6750 graphics card, the iMac has plenty of power for creative work in the classroom such as design, animation, audio and video production.
Featuring Apple's new
operating system - OS X Lion - pre-installed, students get more
intuitive, multi-touch navigation and powerful new tools that make
it harder to lose versions of saved files and easier to share them
with colleagues via AirDrop.
Other extras include a built-in SD Card slot for
transferring media like photos direct from a camera to the iMac and
the FaceTime HD webcam which is great for class video
blogging.
